$1.1 MILLION FOR UNIV OF IOWA PRESIDENT

University of Iowa president Barbara Wilson will be paid $1.1 million this coming year. That includes $650,000 in regular salary and an additional $450,000 in 'deferred compensation.' She also receives a house, a car and other perks.
Her total compensation is far less, however, than U of Iowa football coach Kirk Ferenzt who will receive $7 million this year, according to ABC News. Fran McCaffrey, men's basketball coach, will be paid $3.3 million for the coming year (including $300,000 for 'longevity bonuses,' according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
Still, Wilson is the highest paid leader among presidents in higher education in Iowa. Close behind her is Wendy Wintersteen, president at Iowa State. She will be paid $990,000 this year. That includes a $650,000 salary and $340,000 in deferred compensation.
Angela Walker Franklin, president of Des Moines university, is paid $767,035 a year (including $93,576 in other compensation), according to the university's 990 tax form.
